My Week

Friday, 30 August 2013

It's been quite a week! It didn't start out too well as I have been poorly with a recurring infection, I'm on the mend now and have been referred to a consultant so I'm hopeful it all ends well.
I have spent my time resting in bed watching my favourite movies and have discovered a new tv series White Collar (new to me) it's very addictive.

I was thrilled to introduce my puppy dog  Ava she's such a little character and
has really settled into the family.

We also booked a family holiday with my parents
this week. We are going to Florida next
August and while we are there my Mum
and I are taking a 3 day cruise to the
Bahamas. I'm so excited I could burst.
Expect some Disney love in future posts.

Last but not least I was so excited to be
featured in Cider With Rosie   yesterday. Rosie
wrote some lovely things about me and my
blog, so this is a big thank you to her.
I would also like to say thanks to Areeba
from Aree With Umbrella  for the shoutouts
on twitter.

Ava

Wednesday, 28 August 2013

Introducing the youngest member of our little family.

As you can see she loves pink blankets and cuddles with her big brother.
She also loves stealing socks, picking up sticks that are bigger than she is and      playing with the cat next door.
She is scared of ironing boards, bin bags and my old musical teddy bear.
Can't imagine life without her.

Top 5 - Songs

Monday, 26 August 2013

As promised my top 5 songs of all time.

5. Bon Jovi - Always

I think this is a lot of people's fave Bon Jovi song. I was 16 when this song came out and I remember watching the video over and over on MTV. It also reminds me of that years holiday to Lanzarote.

4. Green Day - Good Riddance (time of your life )

I have been a massive fan of Green Day since my teens and managed to see them live in 2005. I think this is their most mainstream song and always make me emotional.

3. Del Shannon - Runaway

I first heard this song featured in a movie as a child and have loved it ever since. It was first released in 1961 and it always makes me think of drive in movie theatres and leather jackets for some reason.

2. U2 - All I Want Is You

I love everything about this song, the vocals are amazing and the lyrics get me every time.

1. The Cranberries - Linger

This song told the story of my life when I was 17. I cringe when I think about it now but I still love the raw emotion and isn't it the story of everyone's life at some point?.

StyleChi.com

Saturday, 24 August 2013

Now if it's one thing I love it's online shopping, no crowds, no queues and nobody complaining that I'm taking too long.
I was really excited when I got the chance to try out StyleChi.com a fashion website that introduces a completely different way to shop online.
The price of the products depends on your social interaction. Tweeting, liking and introducing friends all give you points and the more points you get the lower the price of the products.
Sound a little complicated? It did to me a first but I found this sight very easy to use and was soon gaining points.
The products are of a very high quality and the site features many brand names.
Here are a few of my faves.

I will definitely consider this site for future shopping. Try it out here.

Top 5 - Movies

Thursday, 22 August 2013

Yesterday my friends and I were discussing our top 5 movies, songs and books. Of course it took me all day to compile my lists. I thought it would be fun to share them with you, starting with movies.

5. Armageddon

This makes me cry every time. It doesn't matter that I know Bruce Willis is going to die. Other plus points are Ben Affleck, an amazing soundtrack, oh and Ben Affleck.

4. The Little Mermaid

By far the best Disney movie (in my humble opinion). Sebastian T Crab steals the show, whoever thought of giving him a Jamaican accent deserves a medal. I was 12 when this movie came out and I will never be too old for it.

3. Bridget Jones Diary

This movie is close to my heart because basically I am Bridget, (single, clumsy, socially inept). It also features my favourite leading man Hugh Grant.

2. The Shawshank Redemption

I think this one would be on a lot of people's lists. In fact I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't love this movie. Best ending ever.

1.Gone With The Wind

I just love everything about this movie, I don't care that it's old or that it's far too long I just get caught up in the romance of it all. It captures the time so perfectly it always leaves me wanting to swoosh around in a big dress saying " fiddle dee dee" a lot.

Well that was my top 5 movies. Songs and books to follow.
This is a shout out to all you fellow bloggers, what are your top 5s?

Struggles - A follow up

Tuesday, 20 August 2013

For those of you who read my previous post you will be pleased to know this one comes from a much happier place.
I felt that I had hot a brick wall with my blog and was considering giving it up but a talk with a friend had convinced me to keep going.
I would like to thank everyone for their kind words of support and encouragement, it really does mean a lot to me. The advice is much appreciated and had been taken on board.
It really helps to know the support is out there when I need it.
This little setback has made me realise how much I love my blog and you don't give up on something you love.
So all the fight that had left me on Sunday is back and I'm more determined  than ever to make this blog work.
Thank you all again.

Struggles

Sunday, 18 August 2013

When I started this blog a few months ago I knew it was not going to be easy.

It is much much harder than I ever thought it would be.
I've racked my brains trying to work out why people aren't reading.
- Am I marketing my blog enough.
- Am I using the right approach.
- Is there simply just too many blogs out there.
- Or is it just that my blog is no good.
I knew that I wouldn't get thousands of readers overnight but I feel like I'm making no progress at all. I'm writing and nobody is reading.
When I awoke this morning I felt so despondent I was close to giving it all up.
After a chat with a very good friend who reminded me that I've always been a fighter, I realised that there will be days like this but that doesn't mean I should give up.
So DaisyDaisy will live to fight another day and I am going to remain positive and work hard to make this blog a success.

My phobia

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

You have no idea how uneasy this picture makes me feel even if it is just a drawing.
I have been terrified of frogs for at least 25 years. Now most people think I'm an absolute idiot but there are others like me out there. It even has a name, ranidaphobia.
I suppose I'd better take you back to the beginning, it all started in the school playground. I was 9 or 10 years old and a boy from my class (you know who you are) threw a dead frog at me and it hit me in the face. Ever since that moment the mere thought of a frog is enough to make me feel ill.
Knowing the cause of my phobia really does not help at all. In fact the older I get the worse the fear is. Summer is absolute torture for me, I can't go in the garden even for a second in case there are any frogs.
There have been some pretty embarrassing moments over the years when I have come face to face with a frog or toad in public.one such incident involved me legging it off the patio at work like Usain Bolt then hanging out the staff room window so somebody could pass my lunch through.
Some people think they can cure my phobia with 4 words they can't hurt you. If they have caught me at bad time I usually tell them that I'm well aware of this and advise they look up the
Meaning of the word Phobia - irrational fear.
I don't suppose I will ever be cured and will spend the rest of my life dodging woodlands, ponds and my back garden.
What are you afraid of?
